Spicy Sizzled Dated with Black Sesame

I tossed roasted brussels sprouts with the spicy sizzled dates

Dates give a great textural difference to whatever veg you decide to toss it with and the black sesame brings a nice savouriness.

Tip: This sizzle goes great with any dishes you want textural difference in- I used them with roasted brussels sprouts, but they would work with green beans, broccoli, Cavolo nero…

Makes enough for 450g of roasted veg

Ingredients

3 Tbsps Extra Virgin Olive Oil

1 Fresh Mild Red Chilli, minced

70g Pitted Dates, thinly sliced

1 Tbsp Black Sesame

1 Lime

450g cooked veg of your choice

Method

1. Pour the olive oil into a frying pan on medium-high heat. Once hot, add the fresh chilli and dates, cook stirring until the chilli has softened and the dates have browned evenly.

2. Stir through the black sesame and remove from the heat.

3. Toss your roasted veg through the spicy sizzled dates and season with salt, pepper and lime juice.
